A phylogenetic lineage is observed in one of the Rotaliid benthic foraminiferal species throughout Maastrichtian to Miocene in some localities in the Southern Tethys in the Discorbis pseudoscopos Nakkady (1950) → D. duwi Nakkady (1950) → D. convexa Anan (n. sp.) →D. scopos Finlay (1940) lineage. The identified Maastrichtian-Miocene species in this study are recognized in different localities in the Southern Tethys: New Zealand (Pacific Ocean), Egypt (Mediterranean Sea) and Argentina (Atlantic Ocean).
